Thinking About Trying An Elongated Pickleball Paddle? Try This One!

An Elongated Pickleball Paddle With A Great Sweetspot!

Note: This review is a follow up to my post, “Should I Upgrade To A Better Pickleball Paddle?

I’m a relatively new Pickleball player (this is my first full active year). So I was nervous about trying out an elongated paddle. Elongated paddles generally suffer from a small sweet spot. This is because when you elongate the paddle, they have to make it narrower. That makes most elongated paddles a good choice only for more experienced players. However, the Needle defies that general rule! The Needle has a great sweet spot! Gamma is an established leader in fine Pickleball paddles. But this is first try at an elongated paddle, and wow, they got it right on their first offering!

What Is Great About The Gamma Needle?

As mentioned above, the Gamma Needle’s the sweet spot is unusually large. I noticed no difference in sweet spot compared with my best traditional shaped paddles. Overall, my shot control has been wonderful! The Gamma Needle is a lighter paddle (mine weighs in at only 7.4 ounces), and yet it still delivers solid power on driving shots. Because of its light weight, the Needle is a really responsive paddle at the net. And then there’s extra length! With that extra 1½ inch, you’ve got greater reach getting to drop shots as well as reaching overhead lobs. I also love the Needle’s cushioned grip with hexagon perforations. It is one of my favorite grips!

Conclusion

The Gamma Needle has been a definite boost to my game. This is my new favorite paddle! I was afraid that my game wasn’t progressed enough for this paddle, but I was wrong. I’m so glad I didn’t wait to try this elongated paddle!
